Low
Fat Carbohydrate Diet Plan
Low
fat carbohydrate diets have been very popular with coverage in press
reports and by individual, dieters themselves. This type of diet
has been deemed by many as a miracle diet causing those individuals
using this diet huge amount of weight loss. However, on the other
hand there are those who are worried and concerned that this type
of diet may lead to future health problems.
There
are some who say that using this type of diet can be very hard on
the body. This may become notable for some people on a low carbohydrate
diet as it may lead to heart conditions and can cause various other
health concerns. This can lead many to the all-important question
as to whether a low carbohydrate diet can work at all. Those of
you who may feel unsure about losing weight this way should read
on to gain some facts.
There
are many different low carbohydrate diets of all different types.
The one that may spring to many people's mind is the Atkins plan.
This type of diet restricts carbohydrates in any form; the idea
behind this is to put the body into ketosis. This can cause a dramatic
weight loss within the first couple of weeks especially for those
people who are on the heavy side to begin with. This normally corrects
itself causing the weight loss to slow down once the system has
adapted to the new eating plan.
Many
people will swear by the Atkins plan and have a great success rate
with it, although there are many who find it hard to maintain the
level of carbohydrate restriction. It may be because in the initial
stages, of the diet plan there are almost no carbohydrates and for
some people they find this very difficult. The other fact is that
there are many who forget the advice for a maintenance diet, and
more often than not soon get into old habits of eating therefore
the weight will gradually come back.
There are two more low carbohydrate diets. One is the South Beach
Diet. This one recommends the approach to Glycemic response, taken
by the measure of the Glycemic index. The other diet is the Paleolithic
Diet, this goes back to a diet consumed by Stone Age humans.
Most
low carbohydrate diets have a couple of things in common; one of
these is to discourage consumption of refined carbohydrates hopefully
encouraging more unrefined carbohydrates for example like whole
grains, fruit and similar foods. Fresh vegetables and meat are also
encouraged for consumption.
As
with many diets, what may work for one person may not work for another
and this applies to low carbohydrate diets. Everybody has different
metabolisms therefore one individual may have great success with
this diet, while their friend may be the complete opposite and have
no success.
There
are health concerns for people know matter which diet they choose
to use the one that can concern a low carbohydrate diet is that
substituting fats and proteins for carbohydrates may for some people
raise their cholesterol level. The other point to consider when
using this diet is the increased demand on the liver and kidney;
this can lead to vitamin imbalance and for some women can accelerate
osteoporosis. There are many women who worry that using this type
of diet can lead to eventual organ failure over time.
The
way forward for most people who wish to diet is to have a long talk
with their Doctor. All worries and questions can be asked and any
medical history you have can be discussed as to whether this type
of diet is safe for you. As already mentioned, what may be all right
for one person may not be all right for someone else.
