Teen
Weight Loss Facts
As
adolescents or teens begin the transition from childhood to adulthood
they start to experience the first surge of hormones that lead to
different emotional feelings. During this time, as they become young
adults, they become more aware about their physical appearance and
are anxious to look their best.
Although some
teens aspire to gain weight if they are naturally too thin, most
teens find it hard to keep the weight off and this can lead to emotional
problems and stress. Losing weight becomes a critical issue for
those who are already severely overweight or obese.
Research has
revealed that babies who are breastfed are less likely to suffer
from obesity in their adult years than babies who are fed with a
bottle. Childhood is a critical time because once a child becomes
overweight or obese their body will adapt and their metabolism will
become slower.
This is why
its so important for parents to start controlling the weight of
their children from an early age because if they become overweight
or obese they will most likely continue to have this problem through
their entire adult life. If a child stays relatively thin through
their childhood they will continue to have a faster metabolism.
Although both
boys and girls are equally prone to becoming overweight or obese
due to a diet of eating too many fatty and oily foods with a lack
of exercise, girls will naturally carry around 25% more body fat
than boys because their bodies are preparing to be able to support
having a baby in the future.
If losing weight
has become a problematic issue for a child its important to first
consult a doctor to find out the reason behind the abnormal weight.
Once the doctor knows the daily habits and lifestyle of the child
he or she will know how to resolve the issue and give effective
nutritional advice.
Of course, its
common knowledge that exercise is an essential part of any weight
loss diet for teens. Its just not possible to lose a lot of weight
and become fit and healthy without exercise. Taking regular exercise
will help to build muscle and improve the circulation of the body.
If
an overweight teen has sought advice from a doctor or expert and
they have been provided with a weight loss diet plan it must be
followed vigilantly in order to be successful. If losing weight
is the desired result it will require determination and motivation
for it to be achieved.
